πŸ”¬ Tests & Fasting
Which tests require fasting? How long?
We have mentioned in all our tests which requires fasting (water is allowed).
πŸ’‘ When in doubt, fast for the test - it won't affect most results and ensures accuracy for fasting-dependent tests.
Can I drink water during fasting?
Yes! Plain water is always allowed and actually recommended during fasting. Staying hydrated makes blood draw easier and faster. Avoid tea, coffee, juice, or any other beverages during the fasting period.
Should I stop my medication before a blood test?
Generally, you should continue your regular medications unless your doctor specifically asks you to stop. Stopping essential medications like blood pressure, thyroid, or diabetes medicine can be risky. Inform our phlebotomist about any medications you are taking - they will note it on your sample and the pathologist will interpret accordingly.
How do I collect a urine sample at home?
For urine tests, our phlebotomist will provide a sterile container. Follow these steps:
  • Collect the mid-stream urine (discard the first and last portion)
  • Fill the container to the indicated level (about 10–15 ml)
  • Collect the first morning urine for the most accurate results
  • Hand it to the phlebotomist within 30 minutes of collection
Can blood tests be done for children and infants?
Yes, we regularly conduct tests for children and infants. Our phlebotomists are trained in pediatric blood collection techniques that minimize discomfort. For children under 5, please inform us in advance so we can send our most experienced pediatric phlebotomist. A parent or guardian must be present during collection.
My results look abnormal - should I repeat the test?
If your results appear abnormal, the first step is to consult your doctor - they can decide if a repeat test is needed. Factors like fasting status, medication, stress, and timing can affect some values. If you suspect an error, contact us and we'll review your sample and result at no extra charge.
